Recue 911

Several months ago Todd was promoted at Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue to Lieutenant. Thursday night we went to the awards ceremony for all promotions that have recently taken place within the dept. It was a big to do. The bagpipes led off the evening and closed it as well with the song Amazing Grace honoring all of those within the dept whose lives have been taken while employed. Whenever the drums played it sounded like thunder outside. It was awesome.

After being sworn into office the wives come up to "pin" the medallions on their class A uniform collars. I could not get it on! See Todd, he's saying through gritted teeth, "honey, come on!"
The kids had their eye on the banquet tables of food. It was quite the spread!
We have pumpkin carving contests in the fall.....why not watermelon carving contests in the summer?!?
Mr. Boy was the entertainment to all the other parents in the back chasing their own small children. When he wasn't trying to pull grapes off the tables he was happily spinning around and hugging other babies about his same size.
We're so proud of Todd and the hard work and dedication he puts into his job each and every day. It's an honor having a husband whose career follows a path steep in tradition. Seeing all the officers there with their various ranks and positions makes me proud of Todd for choosing to promote and taking the added responsibilities that come with being a company officer.

What a wonderful tribute to your husband. It means alot to the man to know that his wife and children are proud of his career and his role as father and husband. Todd looks pretty studley in his full dress blues. I know he has many more great accomplishments ahead of him.

Congrats to him. What a special night! I got to pin Jared's badge on for the first time when he was sworn in at his graduation from the acadamy. Those things aren't easy, especially when people are watching and taking pictures.

Todd looks very handsome/hunkay in his suit. Bummer you couldn't get the pin on, I can picture the whole thing and it makes me laugh. I'm expecting you to have a blog post soon of your very own watermelon that you carve out as a centerpiece for a simple family dinner. Hop in it Martha!

Oh wow! I had no idea. I'll have to call and sing him a congratulations song! Seriously though, he did look so handsome! I couldn't see the picture of you and the pin. For some reason not all pictures load on my thing. I'll be able to read what people say about pictures, but I can't see them. I'll have to show this post to Josh, who is still planning on following in Todd's footsteps. Way to go T-Bone!

By the way, the treeman is for real. I watched the hour long surgery episode on Discovery Health. You should TVO it for your kids, it would be a good freaky show to watch on Halloween. Sad.

That's so cool. I love the uniform. Do you make him dress like that around the house because he looks so handsome? Way to go Todd! I'm impressed.

Congratulations to you Todd! That's a great accomplishment for you and your family. You do look very handsome in your uniform. I don't think there is a woman alive who doesn't LOVE a man in uniform. Keep staying safe and working hard.
